New Jersey Future of Nursing 2020-2030 Summit

 In Nurses Weekly

Over the past several months, the NJAC has been working on four recommendations from the National Academies of Medicine’s Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report:

1) Addressing nursing faculty shortages

2) Supporting nurse’s emotional health and wellbeing

3) Removing practice barriers in licensure for Advance Practice Nurse’s (APNs) to improve access to care

4) Enabling nursing education to address SDOH and health equity

The NJCCN is leading the faculty shortage, NJ NEW is leading the mental health and wellness initiatives, NJSNA is leading the APN policy work, and Dr. Mularz with Rutgers University is leading the education. The workgroups have been meeting monthly with Dr. Nina Vaid Raoji, who has been brought on as a consultant to strategize and mobilize the recommendations for the state. The workgroup leads will meet later this summer for an in-person work session to update and strategize for the next phase.
