The Institute for Nursing Awards More Than $11,000 in Scholarships

Institute for Nursing Awards 2021 Scholarships – May, 2021 – TRENTON, NJ

The mission of the Institute for Nursing (IFN), the NJ State Nurses Association foundation, is to preserve the heritage, principles, values and practices of this healing profession through the support of scholarships, education and research. The IFN’s Scholarship awards in 2021 have totaled $11,500. Ten awards were made to nursing students, and registered nurses. The IFN is grateful to all those who have contributed to fundraising efforts to support scholarships and grants.

Tuition assistance is provided to those enrolled in entry-level nursing programs and for nurses advancing their degrees. Grants are available for nurses conducting research in both clinical and academic settings. Since 1989, the IFN has awarded more than a half million dollars in scholarships to individuals who aspire to become registered nurses and registered nurses who are seeking educational advancement by obtaining a bachelors, masters, or doctoral degrees in nursing.

Following are the Scholarship recipients:

Tammy Yarbrough, Brick, NJ, received the Meridian Health Care Systems Jean Marshall Scholar Award. She is pursuing a master’s degree at New Jersey City University.

Yaa Frimpong, Piscataway, NJ, received the Mary Germain Scholarship. She is attending Rutgers University School of Nursing, pursing a baccalaureate degree.

Ariel Bryant, New Brunswick, NJ, was awarded the Sylvia C. Edge Endowment Scholarship. She is attending Chamberlin College of Nursing, pursing a baccalaureate degree.

Jennika Villard, East Orange, NJ, was awarded the Sylvia C. Edge Endowment Scholarship. She is attending Rutgers University School of Nursing, pursing a baccalaureate degree.

Naomi Bogy, Old Bridge, NJ, received the Newark City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship. She is pursuing a baccalaureate degree at Rutgers University School of Nursing.

Kathleen Vnenchak, Flanders, NJ, was awarded the Dr. & Mr. Foley Scholarship and will be continuing her education at Grand Canyon University pursuing a Doctoral Degree.

Alexandria Ipsaro, Point Pleasant NJ, was awarded the Arthur L. Davis Publishing Agency Inc. Scholarship. She is pursuing an Associate Degree and is attending Ocean County College.

Priyal Parikh, Rutherford, NJ, is attending Thomas Edison State University pursuing an Accelerated BSN degree. Priyal was awarded a General Scholarship.

Olivia Gasper, New Brunswick, NJ, she is attending Rutgers School of Nursing, pursuing a baccalaureate degree. Olivia was awarded a General Scholarship.

Briana Pettus, Vineland, NJ, a high school senior who will be attending Rutgers University School of Nursing. She is pursuing a baccalaureate degree and was awarded the Valerie E. Yahn Scholarship.
