Nurse Sees Poster, Realizes She Has Symptoms
Chantal Smits, a nurse who works with brain tumor patients, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor after she saw a poster describing the debilitating symptoms she had been suffering from for years. The now 22-year-old started suffering minor symptoms like headaches in her first year as a student nurse in 2014. She felt tired all of the time and used to fall asleep at 8 p.m., pretty much as soon as her daily shift was over. However, she thought it was because she was working 40 hours a week and writing essays all weekend. After being diagnosed, she’s doing something to make herself and others feel better.
