Is Nursing a Job or a Profession?

Some nurses perceive themselves to be professionals, but do not always feel that they are treated with respect in the workplace.

Other nurses will flatly say nursing is a job, citing that clinical bedside nurses punch a time clock, have regulated breaks and mealtimes and do shift work.

As seen on Twitter, “Nurses are seen as a short-term expense, not a long-term investment” or in other words, an expenditure when conducting business as a hospital.
