NJSNA Members Win National Awards
The New Jersey State Nurses Association announced today that three of its members have won national awards for their extraordinary achievements, leadership and advocacy that have advanced nursing.
NJSNA members Dr. Kevin Emmons, Naomi Hanoch and Duke Harvey P. Lagtapon were celebrated at last month’s American Nurses Association ceremony in Washington, D.C.
“New Jersey’s nurses and educators are among the best in the nation,” said Mary Ellen Levine, DNP, MSN, RN, CHPN, NJSNA president. “Every day, we become an important part of families throughout the state when their loved ones need us most. We provide care, education and emotional support, which advances health care for all.”
ANA’s 2022 National Awards included:
- Emmons, BSN, RN, CCRN-CMC-CSC, CHFN, who is a clinical associate professor at the Rutgers, School of Nursing-Camden, won the Luther Christman Award. The award recognizes substantial contributions made by an individual man in nursing to the profession in the areas of practice, research, education, public policy and/or community serviced.
- Hanoch, BSN, RN, who is a NICU nurse at Hackensack University Medical Center, won the Early Career Nurse Leader Award, which recognizes an emerging member of the nursing profession for significant accomplishments and contributions.
- Lagtapon, BSN, RN, CCRN-CMC-CSC, CHFN, who is a clinical nurse in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)/Open Heart Unit at Hackensack University Medical Center, won the Distinguished Direct Patient Care Award, which recognizes an individual registered nurse who provides exemplary patient care and contributes to the advancement of nursing practice.
