2020 Declared ‘Year of the Nurse’
The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has officially proposed declaring 2020 the year of the nurse and the midwife. Dr. Ghebreyesus said nurses are a crucial link between the people of the community and the complex health care system. Nurses are on the front lines of health care, he said, and they are the key factor in achieving universal health coverage, which is an initiative the WHO is spearheading for the sake of bringing adequate health care to humans across the globe.
