Welcome to Region 3
Dear Esteemed Nurses of NJSNA Region 3,
As we begin autumn and the hurried pace that comes with it, I want to commend you all for your ongoing dedication to our nursing community here in New Jersey. Your passion and perseverance through a demanding year has not gone unnoticed.
This fall, let us continue advocating for the issues most pressing for our profession – safe staffing ratios, workplace safety, equitable compensation, and access to mental health resources. Our voices must persist until meaningful changes are implemented for the wellbeing of our workforce and the patients we serve. Do not grow weary in uplifting your colleagues and speaking truth to power.
I also urge you to take time for meaningful reflection, especially as we head into another flu season with its accompanying uncertainties. Evaluate what drew you to this vocation in the first place. How can you reconnect to that original purpose and allow it to renew your spirit? Consider what you have overcome and take pride in your resilience. And know you do not walk alone – your NJSNA Region 3 family is here to support one another through challenges.
As nurse leaders, we cannot become dispirited. Look to the giants whose shoulders we stand on, like Florence Nightingale, Mary Mahoney, and Madeleine Leininger. Their courage compels us onward. We must support each other in embodying the values that called us to this profession – advocacy, integrity, stewardship, and love for humanity.
There will always be new challenges to face. But united, our voice grows stronger. Our vision of the future we want to manifest becomes clearer. Together, we will continue transforming healthcare for the betterment of all people. Your passion makes a difference.
New nurses just starting out – we welcome you with open arms and recognize your enthusiasm. To our distinguished nurses nearing retirement – we thank you for paving the way. And to every nurse in between – your experience and perspective is irreplaceable. Our diversity makes us stronger.
Stay encouraged. Take heart knowing your passion and advocacy make an invaluable difference in the lives of your patients, communities, and fellow nurses across New Jersey. Onward we go – into a brighter future shaped by our own hands and hearts.
In solidarity,
Dr. Lois Greene RN
NJSNA Region 3 President
