Region 3 Community Service

 In Regional Site 3

Join Region 3 on May 21 as we provide a community service for The Greater Newark Conservancy. Their mission is to foster collaboration in the community at the intersection of environmental, food, and racial justice to promote the health and well-being of Newark residents. The organization is currently preparing for their plant giveaway, which provides plants to community members. We will aid in this by performing outdoor gardening tasks. Research suggests that active interaction with outdoor plants can help reduce psychological and physiological stress, attention deficit disorders, and depression while enhancing memory retention, creativity, and life satisfaction (Hall & Knuth, 2019). Research also suggests providing opportunities for green spaces in urban areas reduces crime and increases community cohesion (Shepley et al., 2019). Please see the below flyer and attached volunteer guidelines for details. Family and friends 14 years and older are welcome. Please click the following link to complete the registration/covid screening the morning of the event. Do not complete in advance.
